Wide plank flooring is exactly what it sounds like. Instead of the standard 3 to 4 inch planks that make up a traditional hardwood floor, a wide plank floor can be built of planks up to a foot or more wide and lengths of up to sixteen feet. Our reclaimed flooring is milled from recycled wood (old barn beams) which means you are not only investing in a beautiful and unique floor, but in a green building material that is beneficial to the environment as well. The fact that our flooring is made from lumber used hundreds of years ago means that its appearance will generally have more character than that of new growth floor planking. It will contain knots, grains, worm and insect holes, and because the material was most likely reclaimed from an old barn, the flooring will also sport nail holes and the like.
